Arepas

Pronounced, AH-RE-PAHS, they are the mainstay of the South American diet. Made from yellowand white corn, they are best described as a cross between a tortilla and a pancake. They can beenjoyed with many different toppings, stuffed, or even eaten for dessert. Arepas are naturallygluten-free and make a delicious bread replacement.

Travel from country to country in South America, and you’ll experience various arepas — all incorporating their unique recipes, preparation methods, thickness preferences, and types of corn. Delicas Andinas specializes in fresh Colombian arepas, crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside.

Arepas should be crunchy on the outside and moist in the middle. By following these simple instructions, you can make delicious Arepas.

Toaster
Toast it for 5 minutes or 7 minutes for extra crunchiness and serve it hot with a pinch of salt.
Oven
Bake at 450 °F for 7 minutes and flip for 7 more minutes. Serve it hot with a pinch of salt.
Griddle
Pan fry in butter or oil on high for 5 minutes per side. Serve it hot with a pinch of salt.
Grill
Grill over medium heat for 5 minutes and flip for 5 more minutes, 7 minutes per side if you like your arepas extra crunchy. Serve it hot with a pinch of salt.

You can, however, we don’t recommend it. Toasting or grilling brings out the true flavor and texture of the Arepa.

Yes, Arepas can be frozen for up to 6 months.

Arepas are made from simple ingredients, yellow or white corn, salt and water. Some maycontain cheese or brown sugar. Each package has a full ingredient list and a nutrition label.

Yes, our Arepas de Choclo are made from Grade A corn, one of the sweetest types of corn on earth, combined with brown sugar and other fine ingredients. They make a perfect dessert topped with chocolate or fruit and are a great alternative to pancakes or frozen waffles. Just top them with butter and maple syrup.

Your Arepas should be good 8 weeks from the production date. You can find a date code on your bag. We recommend refrigerating your Arepas after opening the package to keep them at their freshest.

All of our Arpeas are vegetarian and most are vegan. Only our cheese arepas are notvegan.

Yes, Delicias Andinas Arepas are Kosher certified.

Yes, they are naturally gluten-free and are produced in a gluten-free facility. They makean excellent replacement for bread.

Yes, our white and yellow corn arepas without cheese are naturally cholesterol-free.

Yes, they are a good source of fiber.

No, our Arepas are baked “a la perfección”, they are never fried.

All of our Arepas except those containing cheese are fat-free.
